The Stavanger region Chamber of Commerce strives to influence
economic developments in the region, especially through ongoing projects
put forth by lobby groups. The Chamber has had a close partnership with
Greater Stavanger, an association focusing on strategic business
development to the region.
We work together with sister organizations in Oslo, Trondheim,
Tromsø, Bergen and Kristiansand to form the "Big Cities Group" to
discuss common special interests and issues. The "Big Cities Group" has
been in cooperation with the Commercial and Service Enterprises and have
initiated research relating to trade and municipal issues.
Internationally, the chamber participates in the annual Nordic
Chamber of Commerce meeting and in the International Chamber of Commerce
network, the ICC and EUROCHAMBERS. EUROCHAMBERS is an association of
chambers from different 45 countries in and around Europe. The
organization represents 19 million companies with over 120 million
employees in 2000 different chambers. In 2005, the Stavanger Chamber of
Commerce hosted the EUROCHAMBER's annual conference. The theme for the
conference was job creation and entrepreneurship in Europe.
